One Plant Challenge Animation

April 1 - July 31, 2024

Give the HNP Biodiversity Map™ (and your ecosystem) a bit of love by adding one or more native plant! It's a simple action with huge impact, and no experience is required. Quite honestly, though, you'll probably get hooked and want to build more habitat.

Nudge (or gently shove) your mates, kin, the lovely folks next door, and that one coworker who needs a bit of fresh air into joining the fun.

1 NATIVE PLANT + 1 MAP ENTRY = a ridiculous amount of joy and environmental perks.

Tools to help you choose the best plants, find local resources, and take inventory.

Discover the most productive flowering plants for your ecoregion. Put them in the ground or in containers on your balcony.

Add the most productive trees and shrubs for your ecoregion. These will support the most LIFE.

Find Resources: native plants, seeds, landscape pros, and non-profits near you.

Take an inventory with the iNaturalist App to learn what is native, non-native, and invasive.

Tell your people how to become a cool conservationist just like you.

Purchase or download signs for the U.S. and Canada as well as kids’ versions and a no mow sign.

Host a showing of Doug Tallamy’s What’s the Rush at your local movie house, place of worship, or civic group. (50 minutes)

Share this 24-minute video with your people who can't sit through the full video. Less detail, but they'll get the gist...and then they're hooked.

Download flyers and brochures to spread the word at local events.
