More about this design: The Rosy Maple Moth and the Spring Peeper (Dryocampa rubicunda / Pseudacris crucifer) Both the Rosy Maple Moth and the Spring Peeper Frog have a special relationship with maple tree forests! Rosy maple caterpillars feed almost exclusively on maple tree leaves, which provide essential nutrients for their growth and development. As adults, the moths will return to the trees to lay their eggs on the maple tree leaves to begin a new generation.

Spring Peeper Frogs often breed and lay their eggs in temporary ponds and wetlands near maple trees. Leaf litter provides a food sanctuary for tadpoles, which feed on algae and small invertebrates associated with the decomposing leaves. The yearly chorus call of these small frogs serves as a natural sign that marks the end of the maple sap collection season.
