Charlotte’s Crossing

A Review by Doug Tallamy
Charlotte’s Crossing is not just a balanced, well-researched discourse on the value of native plants and the challenges of transitioning to them, although it certainly is that. This is a real novel, with human-interest plots and subplots; witty, laugh-out-loud dialogue; a healthy dollop of parental wisdom; and character development so real that you will wonder if it’s autobiographical. But, most of all, this is a deeply touching love story. One of my all-time favorite books! ”

From the Book Jacket
Nothing has ever come easily to Charlotte Adair. Her landscaping business is going belly-up. All attempts to nurture her orphaned niece have been rebuffed. Even her handsome new fiancé is taking some getting used to. But just over the horizon on a small island, is a rustic lodge in need of a garden. Its owner, Fig Bigelow, is eccentric, principled, utterly delightful—and the keeper of a terrifying secret. Charlotte’s Crossing is a love song to native plants as well as the story of one woman’s uncommon love for an uncommon man.
