How to Do It

RESEARCH

Review our Resource Directory:
- Learn which businesses are already on the directory. These businesses don't need the directory outreach materials, but are good candidates for the trifold brochures or bookmarks.
- Familiarize yourself with the guidelines to get listed on the directory.
Find businesses to approach:
- Find businesses on the directory to reach out to regarding brochures or bookmarks.
- Search your area to find other businesses not already listed on the directory.

PREPARE MATERIALS

If you plan to email businesses:
- Use our Resource Directory Email Text. Simply copy, paste, and customize the sample text into an email. We recommend sending a draft to yourself before sending it to any businesses to make sure the formatting is correct.
If you plan to visit businesses in person: Print or order the materials you'd like to share.
- Print Resource Directory Flyer (for businesses not already on the directory)
- Print Trifold Brochures (double-sided)
- Order Bookmarks from our store (use coupon code BookmarkBoss for a free set of 100 bookmarks and reduced shipping)

TIPS FOR VISITING BUSINESSES

Introduce yourself as a volunteer with Homegrown National Park and share why you’re passionate about native plants.
Explain the benefits of joining the Resource Directory:
- Increased visibility to a nationwide audience looking for native plants and eco-friendly services.
- Free listing that connects them to motivated customers.
- Support for biodiversity and the growing movement to restore habitat at home.
Leave materials – Offer resource directory flyer and brochures or bookmarks for them to place at their checkout counter or info area.
Follow up – If they’re interested but need time, offer to send them more details via email or check back later.
