Habitat Snapshots

Celebrating Your Native Planting Journeys

We're excited to share some snapshots of the HNP Fireflies' amazing native plant habitats! Your homegrown gardens are bursting with beauty and biodiversity, and we can't get enough of them.

Each of you is out there turning your yards into vibrant ecosystems, and it's truly inspiring.

So, let's applaud these gorgeous photos and the fantastic efforts behind them. Together, we're showing just how powerful native plants can be for our environment and communities!

Cush Family | St. Petersburg, FL

This is an HOA community. Our space was 95% grass when we moved in; the rest was non-native/invasive shrubs.

My goals were to showcase native landscaping can be beautiful, reduce the amount of reclaimed water, with the bonus of restoring habitat for wildlife. Now we have native trees, shrubs, plants and wildflowers and a little library to share books, seeds and plant volunteers!

Amy | Minneapolis, MN

We took out our in-ground pool in the fall of 2022, and replaced it with a large rain garden and native plantings inspired by the planting plan of the nearby Westwood Hills Nature Center.

Doug | Oak Ridge, NC

We have a big yard and thought it would be great to convert a decent amount of into a wildflower meadow for a beautiful view and less mowing.

Trying to be patient and enjoy what is coming up!
